The institute’s mission is to provide a lifelong learning center that encourages creative thought in arts, culture, humanities and science.
A wide variety of seminars, workshops and forums are offered in the areas of literature, philosophy, history, music, economics, finance, medicine, and the natural sciences. All instructors, moderators, and seminar leaders are community professionals well degreed in their areas of expertise. LEI’s classes, seminars and forums are non-credit. There are no tests to take, no papers to write, and no grades are given.The fees are moderate and even more of a bargain if one becomes a member of the Institute.
LEI offers the community intellectual stimulation and opportunities for interesting and enjoyable conversations. Our goal is to enlighten and to widen perspectives.
At LEI we learn from one another by listening to opposing ideas. We synthesize the expertise of the instructor, the wisdom of our fellow students, and our own opinions into new views which brings greater creativity. This synthesis spreads into the community and the community becomes stronger and more cohesive.
